Heard of sidemount but still wondering what the excitement is all about? In simple terms, sidemount is a different equipment configuration that has been used by cave divers for years and which is now gaining popularity in many other forms of technical and recreational diving. This rise in popularity is endorsed by the divers who’ve experienced the benefits of sidemount, which include comfort, streamlining, safety and the flexibility of two primary cylinders that can be handled as singles.
TDI’s Sidemount Diver specialty is the perfect course for any technical diver wishing to use this increasingly popular equipment configuration. This course teaches students to safely utilise side-mounted primary cylinders consistent within their current technical diving certification level. TDI’s Sidemount Diver specialty covers the specific techniques, planning procedures and skills that set sidemount diving apart from the traditional back-mounted method.
This course covers:
· Equipment considerations and configuration
· Gas management
· Attaching and handling cylinders
· Proper buoyancy, trim, propulsion and position
· Water entries and exits with sidemount
· Team diving procedures and safety drills using sidemount
We undertake the TDI Sidemount Diver specialty as a stand-alone course with only two or three students, in order to dedicate our time to the development of your skills and to ensure that you receive the maximum benefit from this course.
This course is for both the new and accomplished technical diver who want to become skilled and proficient with different gear configurations, regardless of if he or she intends to use sidemount all of the time.
Our course is 3 days and includes pool time and 4 ocean dives (either over 2 weekends or as 3 days in a row) using the class leading xDeep Stealth 2.0 sidemount system and Apeks DST - XTX50 regulators to ensure you experience the full advantage of sidemount using the best equipment available!
